Nor does Jacob Henry Motsinger, Illinois native who made five covered wagon trips to Southeastern Nebraska before settling down here have a high opinion of any one who isn't what he terms handy. The spry sepuagenarian, who looks a little like uncle Sam in overalls, proves his point by the jobs he's done during the past years In the building line he has constructed a flagstone terrace and backyard fireplace, cut grass on half a dozen lawns and. taken care of as many flower gardens. He's shingled a roof, painted a house and between times spaded vegetable gardens, picked corn and completed several carpenter jobs. He is capable of running a threshing machine and picking a crate or so of chickens. He picked and packed the first commercial shipment of poultry sent out of Falls City. The father of 12 children, nine of whom are living, is philosophical about the farming he did in Southeastern Nebraska. About all he says is that he lost all he had in the flood of 1929. He is more Voluble about old-age pensions. Speaking of his contemporaries he says: "When they've helped build up the county and when they get plumb down and out, something in the way of old-age assistance or social-security should be coming their way."
