Born: 1710 in Westmoreland Co., VA Notes: William Wright was chief justice, Captain-Major, surveyor and cousin of George Washington. He owned several large tracts of land in Virginia and was a millionaire in his times. William Wright married Judith Amos and lived near Dumfries. William and Mary College Quarterly, 2nd Series, Vol 4, page 43: Captain William Wright as being on the ledger of Daniel Payne, merchant of Dumfries 1758 - 1761, along with Richard Wright Sr., Richard Wright Jr., and Col. George Washington. Crozier, Virginia Colonial Militia, lists Captain William Wright in LTC Adam Stephens 1st Virginia Regiment in Prince William County VA on 2 Feb 1780. Captain William Wright was chief vestryman of the Episcopal Birk Church he built. He sold his land and went to live with his son Francis in what is now Frederick Co., VA. He lived to see his 2nd cousin, George Washington, become President of the United States. "Virginia Wills and Administrators" records that Captain William Wright died in Westmoreland County, VA in 1785. Richard Wright Sr., b. 1730 Prince William Co., VA, son of William Wright, Captain, gentleman, vestryman, justice and surveyor, b.1710 Westmoreland Co., VA at his father's, Capt. John Wright and Dorothy Aubrey, inherited estate "Manour Plantation" at the head of King Copsico pond on the peninsula between lower Machodoc river and Nomini Bay. William Wright removed with his parents and brothers to 1000 acre plantation known as "Leesylvania" near Powells Run in Stafford Co. some 50 miles up the Potomoc river. N.C. page-182 William Wright Will 4-28-1806 In 1806 in Fauquer Co, Va., wife, ~lizabeth son, Wm. Jr. refers to his other children without naming them. Page-372 Fauquer Will Book-8 is the entry of the division of the estate.
