Born: 08 OCT 1758 Notes: Will of John Alleman of Swatara Twp., Will Book C, page 224 In the name of God Amen. I, John Alleman of the township of Swatara in the County of Dauphin and state of Pennsylvania considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say. First I direct that my just debts and funeral charges shall be paid and then a patent taken out of the land office for the tract of land I now live on by my Executors hereinafter mentioned which payments to be made out of my personal estate as hereafter described. Secondly I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Barbara Alleman all that the law would have allowed her in case I had died intestate to be for her use so long as she remains my widow. It is my will and I authorize and direct my executors hereafter named to sell at public sale all my personal property as soon as convenient after my decease the neat proceeds arising therefrom after paying my debts and pattening my land as above mentioned to be divided between my wife Barbara and all my children that is my wife's part as the law directs and above mentioned and the remainder equally between my children share and share alike to wit my daughter Margaret Conrad one share, to my daughter Rachel Jonis one share, my son Stophel Alleman one share, my daughter Annamarie Ramly one share, my daughter Mary Fisher one share, my son Christian Alleman one share, my son Henry Alleman one share, my daughter Barbara Alleman one share, my son John Alleman one share, my daughter Elizabeth Alleman one share, my daughter Catharine Alleman one share, my son Leonard Alleman one share, my daughter Martha Alleman one share, paying regard to the sums by me already advanced agreeable to the charges I have made against them so as to proportion each alike. Also I direct that my executors hereinafter named shall have the care of my real estate where ever it may lie for fifteen years from the date of my last will to be then leased or rented as they shall think to the best advantage for that length of time and the rents, issues or profits arising therefore to be by them divided yearly between my wife and all my children in the proportion and in like manner as above mentioned and at the expiration of fifteen years I direct that my executors hereafter named either sell all my real estate which I hereby fully empower them to do and convey in fee simple and divide the amount arising therefore between my wife if at that time living and my children in the order and manner I have directed my personal property to be divided or to have it proportioned and valued by three judicious and disinterested minds so as to accommodate as many of my children as it will allow of if it be their wish at that time to have it done so them taking a part to pay my wife and the remainder of my children each of their full proportion as above mentioned. I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend Jacob Pathemer and my son Christian Alleman to be the Executors of this my last will and testament for the intent and purpose contained in the said will hereby revoking and disannulling all and every former will or wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thou-sand eight hundred and nine. 1809. Edward Crouch John Alleman Christian Eshenhauer Probated 21 October 1811 Deed Book W, Vol. 1, page 497 Whereas John Alleman late of Swatara township Dauphin county farmer deceased being seized and possessed at the time of his death of the following real estate to wit a tract of land in the township of Swatara aforesaid bounded by lands of Christian Eshenour, Edward Crouch and others on which the said John Alleman lived at the time of his death containing about 216 acres; a tract of land in Ohio and a house and lot in Middletown on Spring street number 9. John Alleman died leaving issue among other children, Christian Alleman party hereto. John Alleman made his will dated 6 July 1809 which since his decease is proven in which he directed his Executors to sell his real estate in 1824. Christian Alleman party hereto owes John Mumma twelve hundred dollars for the payment of six hundred dollars and now to secure the same conveys all his right in his father's estate to John Mumma 3 May 1820. |
